You must look out for Cupid and
Make sure you’re aware of
What he may do on the 14th
When we’re looking for love
He’s not exactly evil maybe
Just a little twisted
I hear he’s got his arrows and
He’s looking to make mischief
This year he’s on the warpath or
At least that’s what I heard
So beware all you sluts cause you
Might end up with a nerd
And all the goody two shoes might
Wind up with those who sin
I hear he’s pairing meat eaters
With vegetarians!
Republicans with Democrats
And if that doesn’t vex
He’s also putting Star Wars fans
With those who like Star Trek
The young ones with the old ones and
The skinnies with the fats
He’s even getting dog people
With partners that love cats
Leos with Aquarius
And if that’s not a shock
I hear there’s rappers hooking up
With people who like rock!
So look out for the 15th’s awkward
Breakfast conversation
That Cupid can do funny things
And so can desperation
Yes, there was a time when I wanted to shoot Cupid with his own arrow….. lol!
Oh for sure. Believe me you are not alone.
Ha…. for sure not!!!! LOL!!!
When his dart was shot into my Shirl’s backside all those years back she broke his neck…that showed him I can tell you!
I can well imagine!
haha! The 15th! If I recall, there’s a film where a woman wakes up in bed with a dead man. The Morning After, I think. Cupid does have a sense of humor.
That’s a good one! I’ll have to look out for that film!
Hahaha!! You never fail to slay me with your bow and arrow of wit!!
As long as Cupid doesn’t pair golfers with tennis,
Can you imagine what a “racket” that’d be?
Or Brady Bunch kids with Dennis the Menace
Or mate herbalists with drinkers of black tea!
Oh if you were only near
To give me these brilliant ideas
But I guess I’ll just have to curse
That these were not put in my verse.
Cupid is one sick sick individual. Messing with people like that!
I know, really!
Opposites attract!
Interested to know what my single friends will be doing and talking about on the morning after..
Ha, I have so few single friends anymore.
Yes, opposites do attract…as long as they’re not constantly arguing with each other!
My husband and I always talk about it. We’re so opposites. For example, with chicken he likes the dry, white, choking type of cooking and he doesn’t like the skin. Oh, I love the skin! Especially crunchy ones! Bad for my cholesterol though. So I try to limit eating them.
I always find your poems so full of wit. What a treat to read 🙂
Thank you Geetha!
Vegetarians with meat eaters… Oh I have seen so many of these…cupid naughty cupid!
Yes, it does seem like a dangerous combination!
and is hilarious sometimes .. things people do for love 😉
Such a fun read, Marissa. I have two doomed love pairings. In honor of the “Odd Couple,” disgustingly messy with OCD cleanliness and a social butterfly with a loner. I’m glad those arrows don’t come my way anymore. Ha ha! Happy Valentine’s Day.
Those are good ones. I can see the loner getting along with the social butterfly but I think the Odd Couple pairing is somewhat doomed.
He jbiws opposites attract.
Of course!
Star Wars fans with Trekkies. Blasphemy.
Indeed!
Also, the GOP with Democrats. The horrors.
Oh goodness! I shudder at the thought!
Cupid has a wicked sense of humor…score one for the nerds…awesome, Marissa!
Ha! That’s true! Those nerds did make out rather well!
Once a year is good for them…lol
I’m a little disturbed by your horoscope mention. My partner is an aquarius (feb 6) and I’m a leo (july 24). Is there something I should know???!!??
Ok. I looked up the compatibility haha yes! sometimes the differences are maddening, but we kinda complement each other too. We both agree to ignore the 14th of feb (and pretty much all ‘mandatory’ gift giving days). Cupid wasn’t all that bad for a change….
I really don’t hold much stock in astrology. I looked that up randomly and chose those 2 signs since they scanned well in my poem. My husband and I are both virgos which I think means we are doomed for sure.
well if he keeps getting man flu, doomed for sure! 😀
Sounds as though cupid is a good Samaritan
That’s another way of looking at it.
HOW DO YOU DO IT?!!! You keep raising the bar … this time it’s a bad-boy Cupid!! He has soooo much to atone for!
Yes, and we thought he was SAINT Valentine! Thanks Joanne.
That was before they raised the standards 😉
Cupid has a sense of humor and it seems as though he likes to mix it up a bit. Rappers and rockers…ha ha! Mischievous little guy 🙂
A sense of humor or a sense of spite…I’m not sure.
That sneaky little bastard!
Yes, we should probably just do away with the whole day for good.
So Cupid’s mixing things up for us a bit, huh? I think I’m glad I’m already married!
Yeah, tell me about it!
I love love. Especially when the pairing seems oddly perfect. 😉
Yes, opposites can attract and all that. But Democrats and Republicans? Really! Ha, ha!
I’ve seen yards at election time that make me wonder….
Moral lessons, check!
For sure! Thanks Cecilia!
My hubby and I are an odd pair, but that just makes it more interesting. That goodness I found him. There was a time….. 😀
Yes, opposites do attract. This was just a foray into the ridiculous…and overly PC!
I don’t think this is the first year Cupid is trying to stir up trouble with his mismatching and mix-ups. I love the idea of your combinations waking up to find strange bedfellows! Lol
Happy Valentine’s Day to you and your chocolate loving “fiends!” Make sure you hide some in a “stash” from the kids. . . 🙂
I think they’re on to me but I’ll do my best.
Cupid’s twisted, eh? Cupid’s a man, right? Desperation is always a dangerous thing (esp for women)!
Unfortunately, that seems to be true.
Rappers and Rockers?? What is the world coming to??
I know, really! Crazy stuff!
Star Wars and Star Trek fans… together???? NEVER!!! (unless you are me…at which point, the two live very harmoniously inside very separate aspects of my brain).
Ha! So it is possible!
Shhh, don’t tell anyone.
Yeah, Cupid + desperation = sure-fire disaster! 🙂
Yes, no doubt about it!
That cupid truly is twisted but some of his masterpieces make for some fun conversations. 😀
Yes, I’m afraid you’re right!
I loved this one, Marissa! 🙂
Those mixes never work! 🙂
Yes, for sure!
