Nightmares Do Come True

We”ll put blood red into your bangs
Sharpen your teeth into fangs
Untanning beds that never fail
To get that whiter shade of pale

And ensure that our manicures
Will file your nails into claws
A widow’s peek will look divine
Once we dye it black #9

And trim that devilish goatee
Since Friday’s buy one get one free
Get the look you always wanted
Suicide chic or downright haunted

See Xena at our zombie station
For the latest in disintegration
Drop down dead, ready to rock it
Egg beaters, electric sockets

Guarantee that perfect flare
To Bride of Frankenstein your hair
And Lilith truly is a whiz
At taming down that werewolf frizz

So now what can we do for you
Here at ‘Nightmares Do Come True’
Nervously I smile at him
“I was thinking…just a trim.”

  1. Very nice Marissa! 🙂
And sometimes a trim can be a nightmare!! The only time I went to a hairdresser in this parts of the world, I said: “Trim a bit”. Apparently, the guy didn’t have experience with curly hair, so he wetted my hair and started cutting. By the time he got to the other side, the hair was drier. That night at home I saw that it was uneven… And really, to cut a curly hair uneven is not easy!!

  2. I’m loving your dark and spooky theme all month. Where’s a freaker supposed to go when they’re getting ready for the Freaker’s Ball? 😉

One of my all-time favourite tunes. Yes – I might be a bit odd 😉

  3. Well, I definitely need “an upgrade” but would have to hesitate as I face the consequences of my actions. . .
Marissa, by any chance have you ever watched, “American Horror Story?” I have ‘dabbled’ in it from time to time but loved Lady Gaga’s gown and the fish eye lens of the new episodes of “Hotel” with Matt Bomer in some of the racy and violent scenes. It is not for the “faint of heart” but the dress and her makeup was eerily beautiful. Kathy Bates is great as the hotel concierge, too.

    • No, unfortunately I have not watched it but can only imagine the scenery as you describe it. Lady Gaga is always something to watch though I must say, I preferred her face when it was a bit more…um…shall we say…interesting. Kathy Bates is always a terrific actress to see as well. I’ll try to put that one into the rotation although it’s ultimately up to the kids. They own the TV.

      • Lady Gaga wears a weird style of makeup and not sure if this would mean less typical? The nudity, violence with vampires and blood baths not really good for kids.
The background music is good, but not sure if you would like it. Maybe someday when it is on tape or reruns. My kids ruled my choices so we could watch family shows together. It helped to talk during commercials. 🙂

    • It is kind of funny and fun, too. The kids, who we love, control the t.v. I grew up sitting with my brothers and parents in pajamas watching t.v. together. For me, it is kind of a tradition. 🙂

    • Actually, I’m not that big on the holiday itself. Kind of wish my kids would get to the point where I don’t have to drag them to stranger’s doors and spend $30 each on costumes that I have to pray will last through the season. I know, bah humbug, right? Last year another blogger suggested that I do Halloween themed blogs through the month of October and it was so inspirational I decided to do it again this year. So that’s it…selfish purposes only!

  4. Well, you kind of already have that bride of Frankenstein hair going… I’m just saying.. from a long long long LONG way away (and totally kidding, also.. please don’t kill me).

  5. I can picture this with MJ’s thriller theme in the background. And somebody rapping on the side, perhaps you. Your poems leave me in awe and I can’t help but, to scroll down to read more and more. I am glad to have stumbled upon Your blog. Looking forward to reading your posts.
